Captain Hobbs secured £4, Private Ching £3 and Riflemen Ballinger and l Franklin £2 each, in the Longfield Aggregate, and Captain Hobbs £2 in the Members’ Match. (Received October 22, 1.24 a.m.) At the Rifle Association meeting the King’s Prize was won by Cutler, Bathurst, with 216 points. Lake, Adelaide, was second with 214 points. (The Longfield Aggregate comprises the series of individual matches known as “ The Dangar,” seven shots at 800 and 900yds ; “The Members,” ben shots at 700yds*; “ The Jaques,” fifteen shots at 800yds; “The Sydney,” ten shots at 600yds, and “The Rand wick,” ten shots at 500yds. There are two hundred and seventy-three prizes, and Captain Hobbs, in receiving £4, must have been about twentieth, according to the disposition of the prizemoney. The opening of the season’s shooting by the members of the Christchurch Defence Rifle Club took place on the range at Cashmere on Thursday afternoon, when there was a fair attendance of the clubmen, intending members and friends. The weather was not favourable for good shooting, a strong easterly wind of a tricky nature, especially at the long ranges, accounting for the scores not being up to uie usual standard; but an enjoyable afternoon was spent. The match that was arranged by the captain and secretary oi the club resulted in favour of the latter s team by 42 points. Seven shots per man were fired at 200, 500 and 600yds.
