Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's s.s. rKaramea, from London, now at Wellington, 'is expected to arrive here on Sunday with 2200 tons of general cargo for this port. Yesterday the s.s. Rofomahana arrived from Wellington at 9.'5 a.m.. the s.s. Wakatu from Akaroa and the Bays at 9.30 a.m. It is announced that the s.s.. Dorset, which '•was on fire at Fremantle on Sunday last, has no cargo on board for Nev; Zealand. Mr Tate, chief officer of the s.s. Rotomahana, is to go ashore at Wellington to-day to wait for 'instructions. His place will bo taken by Mr Senior, from the s.'s. Kamona. Captain Collins, who ha 3 been relieved by Captain Dawson in ths command of the s.s. arrived from Wellington by theE.g. Rotomahana yesterday to wait here for instructions. The " Evening Post" states that Mr G. H. Scales, who loaded the wool ship Inverurie, which arrived at London from Wellington recently with her cargo on fire, has been advised that the extent of the damage was not rery great, only forty-one bales being slightly damaged by fire, and 650 bales slightly damaged by water. , < The ».s. Mr Carson, chief officer of the Mocraki (says tho " Post") is at present on leave of absence, and Mr Brown, second officer of the vessel, is acting temporarily as chief. Mr 'D. C. iLilley, of the s.s. Kittawa, has joined the fMoeraki as second officer. The Wellington "Evening Post" states that the Takapuna, during her run from. The Union Company has been advised that the steamer Pateeua, which has been replaced in the Melbourne-Launceston trade by the turbine steamer Loongana, is to be brought to Neve Zeaand, where she will run in the Wellington-Picton-Nelson trade, replacing the b.B. Penguin, which will then act as second boat in the service. Tho Pateena (says the Wellington " Post") is expected to sail from •Melbourne about the end of the month. Trigosa has in hand a cargo boat of 2700 tons, and has received for three largo steamers for the new Genoese Navigation Company, intended for an Italian passenger lino to North America. The loco yard is terminating the steamer Ita.!ia, of 6COO tons, for La Veiooe Company. The Pallanea, cf 6000 tons, the largest Italian cargo boat, has just been launched from tho Maggiano yard, which has also in hand two steamers of «1500 tons for the Venetian Company, for a new subventioncd service between Italy and tho Far East. Tho Orlando yard at Leghorn has building two steam colliers for the Italian Navy, and a trans-Atlantic steamer for La Veloce Company. The Sicilian Railways Company has ordered 'two ferry boats ono at Ancona, the other at Palermo. The Palermo yard has also in hand two cargo boats for Sicilian owners, and the Puglia Company ha-s a large cargo boat building at Ancona.
