SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
An adjourned meeting of the Sydenham School Committee was held on Monday evening ; preeent—Messrs J. Ha-dfiald (chairman), 0. Allifion, J. Fisher, W. Haig, W. D. Marks, W. Miller, F. Warner, S. Williams and E. E. Wright. A letter was read from the Board of Education, covering a report from the inspector, recommending the appointment of Miss Hall as senior assistant-rnis-fcress. The headraasrter reported that for the past eight months the school had been working under an arrangement similar to that recommended, and that the work of the school had been satisfactory. Tho committee resolved to agree with the Board's recommendation, a-nd that Miss Hall should be considered the senior mistress under the Teachers' Salaries) Act. It was resolved that the Board of Education should bo requested, to arrange for a system of classification of teachers, which would ensure, as far as possible, classification according to ability and length of service. Permission was granted to Mr Macleod-Smith to use one of the schoolrooms to form violin, classes for school children.
