Rufus look charge a little further on, and led Princess of Thule and Inohoape by five lengths at the six furlong post. Rufus maintained his lead up through the trees, but Princess of Thule closed within three lengths of him at the two' post and rail obstacles, with Nor’wost in third position, just in front of Inchcape. At the sod wall 1 Kanaka struck hard, and unseated his rider (M’ Gregor). 1 Rufus was three lengths clear of Pipi at tho double in front of the .stand, with Haydn and Princess of Thnle close up. At the last jump over the post and rails, Rufus was closely attended by Haydn, but, striking the obstacle, ho fell back, Pipi taking charge, and getting three lengths to the good of Princess of Thuia coming down the hill. Pipi negotiated the atone wall first, but in ;ihe straight. Princess of Thule dashed up, and cleared the last hurdle well in the lead, scoring from Pipi by eight lengths, with Haydn four lengths away third, and Kanaka fourth. Time—-Bmin 14 2-6sao. Wairiki continued to make the running into the straight, but just inside the distance Gladsome dashed up, and settling Wairiki in good style, she won rather easily by a length and a half, Treadmill being two lengths away third. St Elms, with odds of 2 to 1 batted on her, won tOi© Bray Memorial Handicap easily, in Imin 23Jseo, and Oimici-fun-ae, another strong favourite, ridden by B. MBewen, scored in the .Milo Trot, in which he was unchallenged, in Sonin 50aeo.
