SUPREME COURT.
At the Supreme Court yesterday morning, 'in the case Drummond v. Bayliss, his Honor Mr Justice Denniston made a decree by consent that probate should be issued of the will and codicil, defendant to be entitled to be paid £SOO, and each party to pay its own costs. His Honor Mr Justice Denniston will sit in Banco at the Supremo Court at eleven o’clock tjiis morning. Tire following cases have been set down for hearing: T-Ashby, Bergh and Co. (Mr Byrne) v. Peerless Incubator Company, appeal from decision of Stipendiary Magistrate; Companies Act and re Bradbron and Company, motion for opinion (Mr Mearcs) ; Justices of the Peace Act and Hobson (Mr Kippcnberger) v. Hammond (appellant), appeal from decision of Stipendiary Magistrate; Justices of the Peace Act and Cooper (Mr Hooper) v. Andrews (appellant), appeal from decision of Stipendiary Magistrate; Armitage (Mr Stringer) v. Public Trustee, originating summons. [Per Press Association.] WANGANUI. May 26. The Supremo Court criminal sessions were the shortest oa record. Only two bills were presented to the Grand Jury, and these were thrown out. They were from Taihapo, the charges being assault and robbery and entering a house by night with the” intention to intimidate. Four prisoners were brought up for sentence. Two were remanded till (Friday on charges of breaking and entering, and two boys, aged eleven and thirteen respectively, were admitted to probation for burning down the Crofton School. This concluded the criminal business. The Chief-Justice congratulated the district on the lightness of the calendar. DUNEDIN, May 26. The Supreme Court was engaged all day with the- hearing of a charge of assault and robbery against Thomas Ramsay and John Cairns. This is the case in which an employee of Messrs Sargoorl, Son and Ewen, while taking wages to a boot factory behind the railway station, was knocked down in broad l daylight and robbed of £291. The case is not concluded.
