MINISTERIAL MOVEMENTS

SIR JOSEPH WARD. Sir Joseph Ward 1 arrived from the north yesterday morning. He was to have received a deputation from the Chamber of Commerce and other associated local bodies with reference to the railway rates on the Christ-churcli-Lyttelton line. Owing to the shortness of the notice, however, the deputation could not be arranged. Sir Joseph had intended to remain in Christchurch till today, but when the deputation failed he decided to go on to Dunedin by the express and complete his southern work early and return to Christchurch by Thursday’s express. Hfo will remain in Christchurch over Friday and will receive the deputation on Friday at three o’clock.
