A CAUTION TO DAIRYOWNERS. At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Mr R. Beetham, S.M., Annie Rowan was charged with having sold milk not obtained from a registered' dairy. / Mr "Wright appeared on behalf of the Inspector of Factories. The evidence was that the defendant, an old woman, had sold milk yielded by her own cows, her dairy not being licensed. The defendant pleaded ignorance of the regulations, hut admitted that she had sold and exchanged the milk for a consideration. She was fined 5s and costs. John Cooper wa.s similarly charged. Mr Wright said this was a test case, involving the liability of private dairyowners to He would ask for a week's adjournment. The application was granted. Eliza Jane Jackson, similarly charged, said she had only given milk in return for services rendered by workmen. She was fined 5s and costs.
