The wintry weather militated against the appeanmco of the stock and' generally made matters unpleasant for all concerned. Towards tha close of the. sale there were lew buy era left, but tills apparently had no detrimental effect upon the masker, prices being well maintained. Fat Catixe.—One hundred and sixty-one head were'yarded, the quality being of average, standard. Following on jdontiful supplies 'the previous two weeks, the demand was restricted and a. number of pens wer* X>a.vr.&d unsold. Prices were:—Steers £6 17s 6d to £lO 12s 6d, heii'ors £6 5s to £8 17s 6d, cows £5 5a to £8 10s. The> price of beef ruled at from 24s to 27s per lOOib. Calves.—Fifteen calves were. yarded, small sorts realising from, 17s to £2, larger from £3 to £3 10s. Sxobh axd Dairy Cattle.—Only were entered, and these met"'with, an indifferent sale. Yearlings realised 16s, eighteen and lifteon-montiis-old £3 to £3 Ss 6d, cows £1 15s to £3, dairies £4 10s, £8 10s and £8 17s 6d. Two-year-old heifers wez'o passed- at £4 2s 6d, and three-year-old steel's at £6 17s 6d. Pat Sheep.—There was a good yarding, and although the attendance of buyers fell off considerably towards the close of the sale those who remained.competed keenly for all animals of prime quality. Freezing wethers were eagerly sought for, and showed a decided advance on last week's prices, whilst the market was firm for all ewes suitable for export.
