THE DROUGHT IN AUSTRALIA
MR SEDDON’S OFFER. REFERENCES BY SIR WILLIAM LYNE. United Press Association-- I By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, Dec. 16. Sir William Lyne, speaking at Gundagai, said that Mr Seddon’s action oyer the supply of fodder was such as he expected from a large-hearted, capable administrator of his calibre. Mr Seddon was a most astute politician'. Although the offer to grant free carriage within New Zealand would result in a loss to railway whilst being a benefit to Australia, Sir William Lyne thought that Mr Seddon could foresee that such a move would heat off foreign competition from Australian markets, by placing New Zealand products in greater favour. Sir William Lyne concluded these remarks by professing the greatest admiration for Mr Seddon.
