TOURIST FACILITIES.
THE GOVERNMENT’S PURCHASES. [heom Our Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, Dec. 31. Matters pertaining to the Lake Wakatipu Steamship Company’s business, recently acquired by the Government, are still under consideration, and nothing definite is yet settled, so Sir Joseph Ward informed your representative yesterday. It was stated some time ago that the Government was in treaty for the purchase of the Wanganui River steamers, but so far as I can loam negotiations have not reached a successful stage.
