THE NEW ZEALAND BAND.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I am told that it is being freely circulated in your city that matters in connection with the sending Home of a New Zealand Band have coma to a standstill. I am happy to say that such is not the case. In fact, we are very much alive just now, and a thorough canvass of the North Island is now being made, and wo anticipate that the whole of the shares will bo placed before Christmas. Mr J. H. lies, of London, who will manage the tom’, has written saying that the hand has been offered a five weeks’ engagement at the Crystal Palace, London, on condition that the band competes in one band contest, and that must be the competition for the £IOOO challenge trophy to be held Sc-arly in September, 1903. I think you Sid 11 agree with me that the prospects are very bright indeed, t could give you much more interesting information in connection with the proposed tour, but I think I have said sufficient to prove that we are very much alive, in spite of anything that may be said to the contrary.—l am, etc., 1 , T. HERD, : 1 Wellington,.
