THE ELECTORAL ACT.

AN ALLEGED BREACH. [Per Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, Oct. 13. A case of an unusual nature- engaged the attention of the Magistrate’s Court to-day, when Peter M’Ervan, Registrar of Electors for Invercargill, was charged with refusing to supply an extract from the electoral roll to the informant, J. S. Baxter, and omitting to publicly exhibit on a board outside the Registrar’s office the names of the electors who had been struck off and omitting to place certain names on the roll. The defence was that no roll existed till it was printed and signed by the Registrar. The Magistrate reserved his decision.
