MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

The quarterly meeting of the Loyal Lcithfield Lodge, M.U., was held on

Saturday evening, N.G. Bro J. H. Timms presiding, and about fifty members being present. P.P.G.AI. Bro G. Sellars, of tho Waikari Lodge, also attended. The business sheet of the district meeting was fully dismissed, and P.P.G.AI. Bro G. A. ATLea-n and P.G. Bro John Fitzpatrick were appointed delegates. It was decided to write to the district officers for permission to enlarge the present building. Notice was received that the Loyal Hnia Lodge of P. Grands would meet on Friday, Oct. 10. Receipts for the evening amounted to £4B 7s 4d, and the expenditure to £25 7s 3d.

The monthly meeting of the Tai Tapu Band of Hope was held in the district schoolroom on Sunday afternoon. There was a very fair attendance, and the chair ■was occupied by Mr J. Yoss, the president. Tlie programme included recitations by Aliss B. Brown, Alessrs Richard Hunt and Thomas Farrell, songs by Alisses Barnett and E. Parrett, a duet by Alisses Evelyn, Johnston and Eva Tanner, and selections from Sankey’s hymns, Air J. F. Watson being conductor and Air W. K. Watson organist. The Rev J. J. Alather delivered an earnest address on temperance work. The- quarterly summoned meeting of the Gust Oddfellows’ Lodge took place last evening. There was a good 'attendance, and Bro 0. Saunderoock presided. A digest of the business to be transacted a.b the forthcoming district meeting was- read 1 an-d discussed. One candidate was proposed for membership. The annual social was fixed for Oct. 17. on which occasion a presentation would be made to two brethren recently returned from South Africa.; P.G.’s Al’Kibben and Dickens -were appointed delegates to district meeting.
