BOARD OF GOVERNORS.
CANTERBURY COLLEGE. A. meo-ting of the Canterbury College; Board of .Governors was held yesterday,; present—Mr T. S. Weston , (chairman), Bls'hop Julius, Dr Ohil'to-u, a-nd Messrs H. J. Beswiqk, G. W.-RmseU, T. W. Adams; T. S. Foster, C. C. Corfe, J. Deans and J. G. L. Scott. The Chairman reported to the Board in 'reference to the breakages in the school elementary department. It was resolved that the regulations already framedbr th-e Board should be adhered to. The estimates for 1901-1902 were. gone into. The report of-the College Committee recommended the adoption of the estimates of the various departments under the control of the College, as specified below : —College, estimated receipts £12,485 17s, estimated expenditure £12,671 8s lid; G.rls’ High School, estimated ; receipts £2264 6s 2d, estimated expenditure £2067.115, 6d; Boys’ High School, estimated receipts £4842, estimated expenditure £-1637 10s. On the capital account the debit balance on Jan. 1, 1902, was estimated at £129 las 4d. Medical School Reserves. Account, estimated receipts. £3731-1 ■ 10v, estimated expenditure ’ £3lB ; Museum; .Library and School of Technical Science. .Government Fund' Account, estimated receipts : £4186 18s 3d, estimated expenditure’ £3355 18s 4d ; School of Engineering and . Technical Science, estimated receipts £2676 3s 9d; estimated expenditure £2493 _ 18s 4d; Museum Account, estimated receipts £1326 9s, estimated expenditure £1233; School of, Art, estimated receipts £2209 16s, estimated expenditure £2501 os; Public Library, estimated receipts £2672 10s, estimated expenditure £2146 10s; Public Library Reading-rcom Buildings Account, estimated receipts £4600, estimated expenditure £4617. The estimates,, which had been previously considered by committees, tv e ire adopted. The Chairman stated ■that he intended to interview the Premier in regard to Reserve No. 2012, at Coldstream. It was originally intended for the purpose of assisting higher education in the province of Canterbury. The funds have accumulated, and the Board desired to have the reserve handed over.to it. Mr Russell stated that last year he had spoken to the Minister of Education in regard to the matter, and he had stated that it would be attended to in the present session, but this had not been done. „
