At the weekly sales of rabbit skins there was a large supply. 'Better sorts 1 sold at late rates,-but common skins have declined from a half-penny to 2d per pound. ■New Zealand hemp is firm. The average price to-day for Canterbury mutton is 3£d, for Dunedin and Southland 3|d, and fop North Island 3]d. Lamb is irregular; lambs under 361 b6d to s id, over 441 b 3|d to There is a better demand for beef, but prices are unaltered. The hemp market is very firm. October shipments £25 per ton.”

SHIPPING. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 19,

The Paparoa left Plymouth on Saturday, for Wellington and Lyttelton. The Eakaia arrived at Plymouth on Saturday.

Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from their London office, dated August 16:-

Frozen Meat.—Prices of frozen meat in general .are nominally unchanged except heavy-weights. Frozen lamb prices are in favour of buyers.

Rabfaitskins. —-There is a good demand for rabbitskins, especially best quality. For off-season skins, any change in prices is in favour of buyex-s. Wheat. —The market is steady at last quotations.
