A FAREWELL LETTER FROM THE DUKE. ' __ United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, August 1. Earl Hopetoun has received a farewell letter from the Duke and Duchess of York, written on the eve of their departure from - Fremantle. The Duke wrote that he would . ever remember the memorable and stirring days which witnessed Australia's new political birth. He wished to express his warm- _ est thanks for the kindnesses he had received. He spoke highly of the Cadet movement, in which he thinks lies a strong power for good. He was also struck with the educational advantages provided for ". children. He and the Duchess took leave of the colonies with many regrets, and -- the Commonwealth and people cf Australi* would ever have a warm place ja their hearts. ' '
