JUVENILE OFFENDERS.

THEFT OF A WATCH. Two small boys, named William and Thomas Linn, aged respectively nine years and twelve years, were charged at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning with having stolen a silver watch, valued at £2 10s, and a whip, valued at 2s, the property of William Falloon, on July 5. Their sister, Jane Jjinn, aged fourteen, was charged with having received the watch, knowing it to have been stolen. The first offence was admitted. Another small girl, Maria Sullivan, stated that her friend Jane had given the watch to her for some small service, teIl T ing her to state that she had found it. t Mr Blank, Truancy Officer, said that the children attended school most irregu-. larly, and their parents had been frequently, before-’the Court for failing to dp their, duty in this respect, Sergeant Burke and Constable Ryan said that the girl had been sent to take the two boys to school, but had 1 employed herself stripping the trimming off the pupils’ hats in the corridor. Mr Leatliam, who appeared for the children, called their parents, who stated that they sent them to school every morning, and considered themselves quite able to look after the young people. Dr M’Arthur warned all parties concerned to amend their conduct; the girl to be careful about accepting things from her brothers, the boys to go to school regularly, and leave other people’s property alone, and the parents to show a better appreciation of their responsibilities. He dismissed the charge against the girl, and convicted the boys, ordering them to come up for sentence when called upon.
