The Duke of York laid the foundation stone of a memorial to the soldiers who fell in South Africa. He also presented war medals to the troopers who have returned from the front, and reviewed the troops and held a. levee at Government House, in the presencs of a distinguished company, ,at which Rear-Admiral Beaumont was created a Knight Commander of St Michael and St George. In the evening the Royal party attended a State concert.
