DIX’S GAIETY COMPANY.
There was a largo and' appreciative audience at the Opera ‘House last evening, when the Dix Gaiety Company gave a change of programme. Miss Iren© Eranklin, the American comedienne, who made her bow for the first time to a Christchurch audience, met with a very hearty reception, and had to give no fewer than five numbers before she was allowed to retire. She has a pleasing stvie, peculiarly her own, and is decidedly the best performer in her particular line who has ever visited Christchurch. Her songs, while very taking, are entirely free of vulgarity, and it is not surprising that her efforts were appreciated. Kcw items were given by Mr Wallace King, who was in excellent voice; Miss (Marie Terry, (Mr Les Warton, the Galardi Sisters, Mr Tom Leonard and Hiss Elsie Rosser, and the antics of Johnson, Riano and Bentley in their monkey impersonations were as popular as' ever. The same programme will be repeated this evening.
