MEETINGS OP SOCIETIES.

A general meeting of the Pioneer Amateur Bicycle and Athletic Club was held on Wednesday evening, Mr Alex Lowry in the chair. The report of the committee showed that the finances of the club are in a much healthier condition than was the case last year, some £9O of liabilities having been extinguished, including £6O on the second MUard: table. Billiard receipts had shown an increase, but the sports meetings of the season had resulted in a loss, the public having failed to patronise them to the extent anticipated. The report was received and adopted. Mr H. S. Batchelor gave notice to move at the annual meeting that the subscription should be raised to £l, reducible to 16s if paid before Dec: SI in each year. Mr E. E. Daniels gave notice to move 'that no member of the Pioneer Club shall race or attempt records as a member of any other club in Canterbury, The quarterly congregational social ”of the Woolston Methodist Church was held on Tuesday. Reports from the stewards wore most encouraging. A scheine for the enlargement of the schoolroom and for improving and beautifying the church was submitted. The Rev T. P.
