[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 17. A youth named Marquis Williamson, aged nineteen, a son of Mr Isaac Williamson, of Te Kumi, was crossing the Awanui River in a punt, when he fell overboard and was drowned. HAWERA, June 17. A serious accident happened this morning. A horse ridden by a boy named X’eter Grant bolted. Mr T. T. Miller, the manager of th© ‘Bank of Australasia, stopped the runaway, but both himself and the boy sustained severe injuries. The lad was injured about the head, but at present his injuries are not thought to be dangerous. Mr Miller had his pelvis splintered, and his shoulder hurt, and sustained severe scalp wounds. It is not yet-known whether he has been injured internally. PEILDING, June 17. The four-year-old son of Mr Crosby, of Awahuri Road, was seriously burnt this morning, by his dothes catching fire during the temporary absence of his parents from tne room. He is not expected to recover. WELLINGTON, June 17. A roan named Walter Pennington, a visitor from Featherston, was run over by a cab yesterday, and! died 1 in the Hospital 'during the night. WELLINGTON, June 17. At an inquest to-day on ft man named Penington, who was run over by a oab while lying in a right-of-way hading to a stable, a verdict was returned of accidental death, no blame being attached to the owner of the oab. The man was- stupid with drink when taken to the hospital, -and death -was accelerated by his alcoholic condition. An elderly lady named Mrs Jones, residing in Battersea Street, Sydenham, fell off the Opawa coach, late on Sunday evening, breaking her right leg. She was conveyed -to the Hospital, where the limb was set by Dr Crook®. A woman named Mrs Jane Millison, aged seventy-five years, residing in High Street, Rangiora, _ opposite the Presbyterian Church, died suddenly from l heart disease early yesterday morning. Dr Baber being prepared to give a certificate an inquest ■will not be held. The deceased came from Auckland about six months ago, and was living alone, but had relatives in th© place.
