MARKET REPORTS.

ADDINGTON. The.market at Addington yesterday was one of the smallest for'a long time, and on almost every department business seemed to drag, in spite of the fact that there was a good attendance. The cause of the decline dn sheep of all classes is not far to seek, as the unsatisfactory cables from London with respect to fat sheep and lambs were bound to influence the market here, and this, of course,- affected store sheep. Entries for the" day comprised 1408 fat sheep,.39B9 fat lambs, 6290 store sheep, 269 head of cattle and 405 pigs. Fat Cattle.—The yarding consisted of 121 head, mostly light-weight heifers and cows, only seven steers going to auction. The market was decidedly easier, and' a good many pens were withdrawn at auction. Good to prime beef realised from 19s 6d to 21s 6d, and other sorts 17s to 19s per 1001 b. Five Shorthorn cows'from Mr J'. Deans's made £7 7s 6d to £9 7s 6d, aud a couple of eighteen-months-old heifers £6 7s 6d each. Steers brought from £6 to £9 ss, heifers £5 to £7 12s 6d, and cows £4 15s to £7 12s, 6d. '

Store Cattle.-—The entry was confined to a- 1 small line of three-year-old steers from the south, which brought £5 16s, and some Polled Angus from Tarndale,' which brought £4 5s for the two-year-olds and £3 2s 6'd for yearlings to eighteen-inonlhs-olds. Dairy Cattle.—l he demand for the better sons of daiiy cows was very keen, the majority selling at from £7 to £9, and up to £lo~for extra good, inferior sorts selling at from £3 10s to, £6 10s. Fat Siieei". —The yarding was the smallest seen at'the yards for a very long time, practically the whole entry being ewes. The short supply caused fair competition for good, ewes which brought from 14s to 16s 6d, but inferior and secondary sorts were dull of sale at from 10s to 13s, and several lots were withdrawn. A few merino ewes -£aH:. : Rt'-li i ■"'•'■ . ■■ Fat Lambs.—The yarding .of fat lambs was a very large one, including some very prime lots, bub several large lines were scarcely up to freezing standard. Although export buyers were competing, they had evidently reduced 1 their limits, and a' good many were passed, while for those which) changed .hands'. a decline of' Is per head" can be recorded. Freezing quality, brought -13 s 8d to- 15s 9d, and little lots down:to'los. .Fully half the yarding was passed, while about 1300 were taken by export buyers. . Store Sheep.—The 1 yarding, which was smaller than of late, was about equally divided between wethers, ewe« and lambs. Bidding for all' classes showed a lack of spirit, and a decline'took place, wethers andewes, except'really .good, young lots, easing' to the extent of a shilling per head. Small lots of wethers brought from lis 6d to 13s Bd, bringing 14s, and 113 14s 4d, while 903'were withdrawn at 13s 10d, and 323 at 13s 9d. A line of 129 two-tooth.ewes brought v l6s4d, 72 two, four.and six-tooth and fulL-mouthed 17s, 261 do 13s- 6d, 204 do 125,t0 12s Id, and 350 do 15s 3d; 261 sound-mouthed 13s 6d, and aged lots at 9s 5d to 11a Bd'; 301; soundmouthed being withdrawn at 15s. Out of a, line' of 970 lambs, 100. were sold at 12s Id, 102 at; lis 4d, 192 at lis and small lots from 8s 9d to 12s, several lines being withdrawn at from lis 7d to 12s 3d.- .' ■.
