MINISTERIAL.
A MEETING OF THE CABINET. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Feb. 19. The Premier and the Hon J. G. Ward were engaged transacting departmental business this morning. At noon they witnessed the departure of the Imperial troops. The Hon T. Duncan and the Hon J. M’Gowan left for Rotorua this morning in order to make arrangements /with reference to the tree-planting' at Waitapu. A meeting of the Cabinet was held at which were present the Hon J. G. Ward, lion T. Duncan ,and the Hon J. M’Gowan. The fact was mentioned ttyat the Government had been approached in regard to recruiting for the South African Police in this colony and that an answer had been sent that it was not desirable in the interests of tho colony. A communication tvas received from the Premier of Victoria statin:>- that a similar proposal had been made to his Government and that a reply had been given that it could not be agreed to. An expenditure of £2OOO was authorised in connection with the new works at the Rotorua baths. The question of purebasipg a farm at Papatoitoi for stud and experimental purposes was held over until a full meeting of the Cabinet.
