The Bank of England returns show the reserve to be £22,724,000, the stock of gold coin and bullion £30,840,000, the proportion of reserve to liabilities 48.90 par cent, notes in circulation £28,636,000, public deposits £8,970,000, other deposits £37,282,000, Government securities £13,396,000, other securities £28,377,000. Three months' bills arc discounted at 3 15-16 d per cent. Consols are quoted at 97-{. Victorian 3A- per cent inscribed stock v* quoted at 102 A; New Zealand oi, per cent 1074- Other stocks are unchanged. The English wheat markets are quiet, and the Continental markets arc steady. There is little inquiry for cargoes, of which Victorian January and March shipments are quoted at 29s 9d per quarter, and sailer parcels at 29s per quarter. Butter is a shade weaker, with, a steady trade. Colonial 106 s per cwt; occasionally 108 s per cwt. Danish is flat at 115 s per cwt. Oheese—New Zealand is dull at from 50s to 52,s per cwt. Copper is nominal; on spot £7l 5s per ton, three months £7l 15s per ton. Tin is dull ; on spot £l2k! 10s per ton, three months £llß per ton. Pig iron 54s 6d per ton. Lead, £ls 10s per ton. , Sugar is quiet; German. 9s 3d, first markets lis 4£d. At Bradford wool is dull. Common sixties 17-Jd, superfine 18£d. Silver is quoted at 2s 4 l-8d per oz.
