■ . REMANDED .TO’ DUNEDIN. V ■The boy John Anderson, who •• was remanded by Mr Bishop, S.M.,’ in order that the Dunedin Police might .mate further inquiries, was brought , up before Mr R. Be&tham, S.M., yesterday. .. * The Dunedin police had forwarded a photo and a.description, which left no, doubt that the boy’s real name was Christopher James Hardy, and that he had run away from his friends in Diinedin on Jan. .26, _ The report did not state whether the “friends” were his parents, and the boy, who now admitted his real identity, stated that he had been adopted when Very young. His excuse for his previous misstatements was that he had been “put up to it,” and he seemed rather distressed by Mr Beetham’s suggestion, that he had taken to lying very naturally. Mr Beetham remanded the accused to Dunedin, in order that the Dunedin Magistrate might inquire into the case.
