gore RACING CLUB. , ■ . DUNEDIN, Jan. 23. Just before the Gore races, -began to-day, tews-ws received -of the death of the Queen. It was decided, to hoist -the flags at half-mast and -to proceed with the programme. Messrs Ellis Bros, again captured the opening even l ) the Croydon Handicap, by the -agency ot Dee"by, who paid a dividend of £1 X3s. Lakefield won the Selling Handicap very easily, and returned his supporters £1 19s. The rrce for the Gore Cup was confined to Red Danner and Jupiter. The former at once took -command, and, maintaining her position ™r°ugh-ou-t, won by twn lengths. Dividend—£2 13a. Time —2min 15sec.

CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB The weights for the Midsummer Handicap will be declared in Monday morning’s papers.
