WELLINGTON REGATTA.

[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Jan. 22.

The anniversary regatta of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club was held to-day, in favourable weather. There was a northwest wind, which varied slightly in. power, but was never more than moderately strong. Much -interest was taken in the meeting of the. Auckland yacht Rainbow* and. the Wellington yacht Waitangi. They were the only two that competed in the race for first-class yachts. Rainbow .sailedthe course of twenty-seven knots in 16min 21sec less time than Waitangi. ' Including her time allowance cf 9min 50sec, Rainbow won by 26min Ilsec. The- first race for second-class yachts was Avon by Atahinta, and the second race by Maliina 1 , In the first race for half-raters Ruru Avas.the winner, and Maroro Avon the second race.
