The Temuka Trotting Club, having passed with credit through its period l of probation, and been-entrusted with ihe use of the totalisator, held what may be,termed its first fullfledged meeting yesterday. The 'course is laid out in part of -the Temuka. Domain', about a mile and a half from the town, and, with very little expense, couid. be made .a icully good track. Having only recently been formed, and the soil being -sandy, it is .still loose, and' clouas of dust were' raised hj the horses, .to the discomfort of spectators.. There was a good 1 attendance, and large fields contested' the 'Various-events, but:speculation' in the'Xfotalisator was dull. The'.stewards' .showed -a praiseworthy determination- to put down any ■suspicious performances, and the club, has ■ made a very .promising start.
