TRACTION TRAFFIC.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Some little time ago attention was drawn in your columns by a medical practitioner to the probability of serious damage being done to.the deep drains in th© city by traction engines. I am quite in accord with his opinion, and recently have observed wha/t must ultimately prove to be serious results arising from traction traffic. During the past few days the weight of more than one heavy engine, attached to two or three waggons, each containing several tons of road metal, have been conspicuously felt, "and the roads greatly cut up, in the North-East Ward and elsewhere. Something should he done without delay to lessen the possible collapse of the deep drains, and I commend the matter to the intelligent consideration of the City Council, and more particularly the representatives of the ratepayers in the North-East Ward. —I am, etc., STOP THE ENGINE.
