Sir William Lyn e will retire shortly from the State Premiership. He will be succeeded by Mr J. See, Mr Dugald, Thomson probably taking the position of Treasurer. MELBOURNE, Jan. 15. Sir John Forrest approves of the idea that the State Post Offices should be controlled by each State under instructions from the Federal Post Office, rather than by direct administration. He says that five years must elapse before there' can be a postage stamp currant throughout Australia. Why this should be he fails to make clear. The Attorney-General lias furnished Sir George Turner with an opinion to the effect that in accepting the Federal Treasurership he had accepted a position of profit under the Grown. Sir George Turner will resign his seat in the State Assembly to-day.
