A Bill to amend the libel law, introduced! into the Assembly, pro-fifes that no criminal prosecution shall take place without an order from a Supreme Court Judge. It establishes privilege for the publication in good fait!h of reports of certain proceedings for public information. Thus proceedings in Parliament, of all Courts, preliminary or otherwise, official inquiries and reports axe privileged. In actions in inferior Courts the verdict must exceed 40s, and in the Supreme Court not less than £3O, before carrying costs, unless there is a special finding by the jury on the subject. Security ifor corts must be given by ths plaintiff. ;
