LYTTELTON GAS COMPANY.
. The twenty-eighth annual meeting of the Lyttelton Gas, Coal and Coke Company. Limited, was held at the Caledonian Rooms. Hereford Street yesterday. Mr Adam Chalmers was in the chair. The report showed a credit balance of £856 18s Id, ou of which it was recommended to declare the usual dividend of 8 per cent, and to camforward the balance. In view of tha unprogressive state of the company's Business a report was obtained from an independent expert, following on which sundry change,? had been introduced,/ including a more liberal, attitude to consumers, and an attempt to reach a new class of consumers by the introduction of slo; meters. It was confidently hoped the result would' be a marked improvement in business. The report recorded with regret the death of Mr J. G. Fyfe, a. director of the company. Three directors had to be elected in place of Messrs Nalder and Trent, who were eligible for re-election, and two auditors had to : be The balance-sheeti showed receipts £2183 12s lOd, and a credit balance of £856 13s Id. The assets exceeded the liabilities by '£3ll ■ 17s 9d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. . On the motion of Mr H. R. Webb.ssconded by Mr Wood, Messrs Nalder and Trent were re-elected directors, the other vacancy being left open. It .was resolved to pay a bonus of £75 to the executors' of the late Secretary , Mr J. G. Fyfe. It was further stated that a bonus of £SO should be paid to the Chairman, and £SO for the Directors, to be apportioned according to the attendance of each director. Messrs E. S.
