MORE LIGHT.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Might I suggest, through the medium of your columns, that the churchwardens of St Matthew's, St Albans, put the candles from the altar to a practical use, as the expenditure of a little gas in the lamp over the entrance to the church seems a. matter of more concern to them than the safety of their congregation. To be " groping in darkness " immediately after basking in the "light of the Gospel" is apt to bring into prominence those inherent blasphemous tendencies to which all mortal men "seem to the manner born."—l am, etc., " NEMO."
