FRANCIS, V.D., COMMANDING. •Headquarters, Christchurch, 19th March, 1900. 1 The Officer Commanding the Battalion being upon the point of departure, in order to tako up the Conimand of the Fourth Contingent for South Africa, takes this opportunity of expressing his thanks to the Officers, and all ranks of the Battalions for the loyal support accorded to him during the period of his command. 2. The Officer Commanding also desires to convey to his Staff his appreciation of the manner in which his efforts have been seconded by them, and his thanks for the assistance they have given to him during the same period. The 'Battalion will parade on Friday, 23rd inst., for the purpose of proceeding to Dunedin. Drill order with leggings, haveTsacks, waterbottles, and overcoats rolled horse-collar fashion. Fall in at tho Drillshed at 7.15 p.m. 2. Officers Commanding Corps will arrange for Blankets and Baggage to be at the Railway Station, in charge of a Non-Com. Officer, by 7.80 p.m. 3. Tents will be erected in Dunedin, and provided with straw, for the accommodation of the Troops. 4. Lieutenant Jones, of tho Canterbury Engineer Corps, will proceed to Dunedin on Thursday morning, and will have charge of tho erection of tho Tents in Dunedin. 5. Officers Commanding Corps will report to tho Senior Officer present the number of men under their command travelling Iby the train, and will furnish a parade state on or before their arrival at Dunedin. „ G. Lieutenant Jones, of the Canterbury Engineers will make what arrangements are possible for messing. 7.
