CYCLING.

The Christchurch Cycling Chib held a fifty-mile road race yesterday, over the course from the Riccarton Hotel to Leeston and back. Although the roads were very heavy and the weather was threatening, there were thirteen starters. The prizes offered by the chib were:—First, a marble clock; second and third, trophies. The race was won by C. G. Jones 16min, whose actnal riding time was Shr 26mm. E. A. Wall, scr, was second, his time being 3br 15mm, and then followed G. Henwood (18rnm), 3hr 33min, and A. Calder (scr) 3hr 15min 2sec. The other starters were G. Porter smm, R, J. Cooke Bmin, B* Porter 16min, W. H. Trengrove 20min, G. Redden 26miu, T. Armstrong and B. Standing 32min, J. Or others and S. Hyslop 40min. Mr W. G. Williams was starter, and Mr F. D. Kesteven was timekeeper.
