A LEGAL POINT. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, May 19. At a meeting of the City Council, the Mayor called attention to the fact that a private firm intended to light business premises in Queen Street, from Wellesley Street to Wakefield Street, with electric light. He said that this was not legal, and was a contravention of the Electric Lines Act, A person could not take an'electric current beyond the building in which it was generated. If the Council intended to apply to Parliament for power to let a contract for the* lighting of the city, it was not right that the eyes should be picked out of the city.
