[Per Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, May 11. The Magistrate, Mr Poynton, delivered judgment to-day in the case of Winifred Healy, a servant, v. Thomas W. Perry, hotelkeeper, a claim for £2OO. for an assault, which consisted of punishing her in the way that ;he would a child. His Worship said that, although he could not find that the assault had caused serious permanent injuries, and although the defendant must have been much exasperated by the plaintiff’s remarks to his wife, substantial damages must be given, oh account of the sex of the plaintiff, the indignity she was subjected to, and the’ relationship of master and servant then existing.
