They had failed to get the Agricultural atid Pastoral Association, to take the matter up, and he thought another endeavour should be made to induce the Government to consider the question. He quoted from a report of Mr A. D. Riley. Principal of the Wellington Technical School, on the question of technical education, and was glad to see that the Government was taking an interest in the question and was getting these reports cir-, culated. He moved—“ That in continuation of, the correspondence between the Board and the Government, which took placein the year 1898, oh the subject of the establishment of scholarships, the Chairman be requested to again place himself in communication with tEe Government, with a view of ascertaining whether it proposes to establish scholarships .as previously suggested.” This was seconded by Mr Rennie and carried. It was further decided to ask the Government to supply copies, of Mr Riley’s report to the members of the Board, and the staff of the College. On the motion of Mr Rolleston, it was decided 1 to instruct the Director to report upon the desirableness of hawing a recognised system of text-books in connection with the lectures in the various branches.
