CYCLING.

LEAGUE OF NEW ZEALAND WHEELMEN. A meeting of the executive.of the League of Wheelmen was held in the Clarendon Hotel last evening; present—Messrs W. E. Thompson (chairman), G. H. Lethaby, G. E. Good, J. H. Tompkins, F. M’Kechnie, A. R.’ Kirk and W. G. Atack. The Invercargill Club forwarded a report of the stewards at its recent meeting on the charges made by it against several racingmen, andaskedthat the caseshould be re-opened. A quantity of additional evidence was forwarded. After some discussion, it was decided to place the case before the Appeal Council. The Invercargill Consul, Mr A. E. Smith, forwarded his resignation, which was held over.- J. Chalmers, Wellington, appealed against the action of the officials at the recent Druids' Sports iu penalising him in the Druids’ Wheel Race. This was handed on to the Appeal Council. W. Broome, Shag Point, protested against the decision of the officials of the Hibernian Sports in dis--1 qualifying him as winner of the I Three-mile Race for not having sent in previous performances. The mati ter was held over for further information. On the application of the Auckland Cycling Club Mr W. B. Fyre was appointed official handicapper for the Auckland district. The appointments of Mr J. Cassidy as delegate for Greymouth and of Mr A. Donaldson for Foxton. were .confirmed. The Pioneer Club wrote asking to be informed under what rule it was called upon to ask several of its racing members tb resign. It . was decided to reply that the matter bad been dealt with under Section H of Rule 4, , and, that the club should he given ten days j in which to comply with the League’s previi ous decision. Mr Alack drew attention to the ; fact that there was a proposal at present before the Now South Wales League to adopt a two-class system similar to that of i the New Zealand League. On his suggestion it was decided to write to, the New South Wales League urging the adoption of such a system in the interests, of the federated Leagues.
