CURRENT NOTICES.

The following meetings will be held to-day-.—Christchurch Operatic Society Committee, Girls’ Friendly Society Rooms, Gloucester Street, 7.30 p.m. ; Canterbury Cricket Association, Warner’s Hotel, 8 p.m. The children of the Burnham Industrial School will be taken for an excursion to Port Levy to-day. They will arrive at the Christchurch station at 10 a.m., and will go on to Lyttelton by the 10.30 train. The Harbour Board’ has kindly undertaken to convey them in the tug from Lyttelton to Port Levy, and on their return they will proceed to Burnham by s special train, wlfich the Minister of Education has arranged for them. The annual exhibition of the Temuka and Geraldine Agricultural and Pastoral Association will open to-day at Temuka. Nominations for members the Conciliation Board close at the office af the Supreme Court at 3 p.m. to-day. A conference will be held at the Papanni library this evening to consider the question of the extension of the existing waterraces in the district for flushing purposes. A German “ social ” will be hold in St John’s schoolroom, Latimer Square, at eight o’clock this evening. A social gathering will he held in Durham Street Wesleyan schoolroom at 7.30 p.m. to-day, to welcome the new circuit minister.

A meeting of carpenters and joiners will bo field in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Lichfield Street, at eight o’clock on Saturday evening, for the purpose of considering a statement to bo presented to the employers. The Canterbury Women’s Institute will meet at Hobbs’s Buildings at eight o’clock to-morrow evening when an address will be given by Mr H. G. Ell. At St Luke’s schoolroom at eight o’clock to-morrow evening Mrs Cunnington will give an address to young men on “ Lessons from my Social Work in Christchurch.” The adjourned annual. meeting of St Saviour’s parish, Lyttelton, will be held at 7.30 p.m. to-day. In connection .with the Tai Tapu Branch of (the St John Ambulance Association, a course of nursing lectures will be commenced by Dr Fenwick on Monday evening. Announcements in connection with the annual elections of members of the Ellesmere, Templeton, Courtenay and Spreydon Road Boards appear in this issue. Annual meetings of ratepayers in the following Road Board Districts are advertised to bo lin’d Courtenay on May 1, Ellesmere on May I, Kowai on May 3 and Spreydon on May 4. Mr Oliver Bambrldge, who is engaged-on a walking tour of the world, will arrive-in ChristohurchthisDveek.
