Advices from the Philippines state that Brigadier-General Lawton, commanding one of the American divisions, will evacuate eight towns south of Manila recently occupied by the Americans, and return to the capital, with the view of resuming the movement in the north. General Lawton states that the present American force is sufficient to go through the island, though a hundred thousand men would be necessary to pacify the people and garrison the towns. Many of the volunteers complain of being detained on service at the Philippines. MANILA, AAril 19. The American cruiser Yorktown visited Baler in order to relieve the Spanish Garrison which was besieged by the Filipinos. Lieutenant Gilmore and a boat’s crew of fourteen men fell into an ambush and, were captured. '
