' Maize; scarce, and -the market excited, 3s lid to 4s; New Zealand and American placed to arrive, 3s 9d and-5s 6d respectively.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has received cable advice as follows; LONDON, Jan. 4.
Frozen Meat —Mutton market firm. Canterbury mutton is worth 3|d (last quotation was 3|d.) Babbits—The demand is poor. Rabbits are worth B,id each, ex store. Tallow—There is a good demand. Beef tallow and medium and inferior, mutton tallow hays advanced-’6d per ;cwfe since last-te- ; port.(last quotation for good beet was;2ls per cwt.) ’ "
In Messrs Dalgoty and Company’s London cable published yesterday the. word “merino” inadvertently/appeared . instead; of “cross-bred,” The message should have: read—“ Americans have bought 600 - bales greasy medium cross-bred fleece,” etc.
