SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

A meeting of the Southbrook School Committee was held on Tuesday evening; present—Messrs Withers (Chairman), DySon, Adamson, Willis, Pickard, Laskey and Buckley/ la was decided to advertise fori a pupil teacher ,to ; fill the vacancy 'caused by the, resignation of Miss Frame. The committee decided not to join the School Committees’ Association. It was agreed to grant the school children a holiday on Dec. 16, and to close the school for four weeks from Dec. 24. The monthly meeting of the Eangiora School Committee was held on Wednesday; ’ present—Messrs J. Marshall (chairinan), E. Ball, W. Luxton, W. H. Gillespie, H. L. Eogers and C. I. Jennings. The Master, reported that the average -attendance' had; increased during the past month, bufi.was still below tbe normal number. It was' .directed to give certificates of merit at Christmas, awarded on the results of the: monthly examinations held throughout; the year. Miss Dick (infant mistress) applied for an extra week’s holiday at the Christmas vacation, and offered to provide; a substitute. It was decided to recommend; tbe Board to grant the application. It was' resolved to continue affiliation with theSchool. 'Committees’ Association. The ; Chairman was asked to invite Mr D. Buddo, member of the Board of Education, to distribute tbe certificates. Messrs Ball and Boyd were. appointed Visiting Committee for the month. /
