POLITICAL NOTES.
[Per Press A ssociaiton.l WELLINGTON, August 21. ME SAMUEL YAILE AND RAILWAY REFORM. In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Railways Committee of the House of Representatives, Mr Samuel Yaile, who is now in Wellington, alleges that some departmental witnesses who gave evidence before the committee of 1886 were only desirous to prove him in the wrong, and that, to do this, they gave evidence which was grossly misleading. He regrets having to take up such a position, but declares; “ One of two things is now quite evident, either they gave evidence that they knew to be untrue, or they were so ignorant of their own business as to be quite unfit for the posts they occupied. I have had no wish to in any way injure any of the officers of the Department, but as I am driven to it I now say that I am in a position to prove that either through design or ignorance they grossly deceived and misled the committee of 1886. For twelve years I have patiently worked and waited, hoping that one of the numerous Railway Committees set up would do the cause I represent justice, but I have waited in vain.
