ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
, The young man. named Walks, brought into Christchurch from the Midland Railway works,, gradually sank, and' (hod yesterday morning at half-past seven. An inquest will be held this afternoon'. • , At Amberley on Sunday, Mr F. Moss, when cycling on the North Road, fell in front of a horse and trap, Mid before the driver could pull up a wheel of the vehicle passed over both his legs and the bicycle. The rider escaped with bruises, but the machine was considerably damaged. INQUESTS. An inquest touching the death of James Nicholson, who died last Saturday in Dr Russell’s hotac, was held yesterday, in the Star and Garter Hotel, before Mr R. Beetham, coroner. Mr G. W. Strickett was chosen foreman of the jury. The evidence of Dr Russell was to the effect that death had resulted from disease of the liver, and a verdict in accordance was returned. An inquest was held before Mr H. W. Bishop, coroner, at the courthouse, Kaiapoi, yesterday, touching the death of a (mild named Ross, twenty months old. Mr Feldwick was chosen foreman of the jury. . The evidence showed that the child had been scalded' by hot tea, and the medical evidence was to the effect that death had been due to failure of the heart’s action. A verdict was returned accordingly.
