[Per Press Associa-mosu-I AUCKLAND, August SI. ■ ■With regard to the death of J; 'BkimS&y whose body was found in the MarVgdtoi Creek yesterday, it is surmised that deceased, who wag -deaf and dumb, lost his way in the scrub and imdergrotMh. The swampy hatiirfe of the land neighbourhood of the creek made travelling v;ery difficult, and, in parts, almost impossible; TBS verdict of the jury was that' deceased had been accidentally drowned. '' PAHIATUA, August 11. • The -nja.fi HoVley,- who but hit throat, died last night. A collision occurred on the North Afpn Eo’ad on Wednesday evening at about 10 jff, thereby Mr C. Mann and his wife arid child were thrown out Of thfeir gigj Mrs Mann sustaining a severe oat Oh the head,- besides being bruised! abOht the face. The others escaped -With a shaking. It appears that when the gig had got near thb junction of Btatom'Orh Road, a ifiah oh Korsebstek from the opposite direction rode right into the horse driven by Mr Mann, the force of the impact breaking the swingletreeof the gig. The shafts dropped, throwing the OcOtt pants out bn the road, and the horse thbh dragged th 6 gig up against a lamp pbsfe, smashing the vehicle and getting clear. The horseman rode off. The gig tWs considerably damaged, and the horse will have to he destroyed. An inquest was held at the Royal Georgb Hotel yesterday afternoon, before Sir R. Beetham, coroner, touching the death Of Thomas Sorton, who wa£ found dead in bed the previous afternoon. The medical evidence was to the effect that the cause of death was acute congestion of the lungs', and a verdict was returned, accordingly.
