RAILWAYS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Can you venture to enlighten your many readers when the public may expect to receive some little consideration from the Christchurch Traffic Manager of our railways? Passengers irom the West Coast are frequently subjected to the indignity and discomfort of having to wait upon the platform or station at Rolleston for twenty minutes, or even half an hour, for the arrival of the train from the south to take them on to Christchurch. The expressed opinion of many travellers is that the Premier should, without delay, obtain from England the services of an experienced up-to-date railway general manager, who, given a free hand, would, I venture to say, effect in a short time a revolution in the service, greatly increase the traffic, popularise the railways, and earn the gratitude of the public, without much extra cost to the colony. —I am, etc., OCCASIONAL TRAVELLER.
