CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, April 20, (Before Mr W. H. Cooper, J.P., and Mr J. Hamilton, J.P.) Stone Throwing. —Thomas Torrish, Thomas Jackson and Joseph Walker, three small boys, were charged with throwing stones, to the danger of persons and property, in Pigeon Lane, Addington. Mr Donnelly appeared for Torrish, and Walker did not appear. After hearing the evidence, the Bench inflicted a fine of 5s on Torrish, and discharged the other two with a caution. Indecent Act. —John Morgan pleaded not guilty to committing an indecent act in a car of the Christchurch City Tramway Company, at Woolston, on April 13, After hearing the evidence of two witnesses, the Bench held the case to be proved, and sentenced the accused to forty-eight hours' imprisonment. AMBERLEY. Wednesday, April 20. (Before Mr H. W, Bishop, S.M., and Mr J. Innes, J.P.) Breach of the Licensing Act. —Henry Bates, licensee of the Crown Hotel, was charged with having sold liquor on March 10, during unauthorised hours. Mr Kippenberger, for defendant, pleaded not guilty. After hearing the evidence, the Bench imposed a fine of <£3, with costs 235, and the license was endorsed. An application by Mr Kippenberger to have the fine increased to £o Is to enable him to appeal, was refused. A second charge was withdrawn. Cattle at Large. —For allowing cattle to wander at large in the town district, T. M’Naught ;w.as fined 2s 6d on each. of. three charges,-with, costs?
