BOROUGH COUNCIL.

NEW BRIGHTON. The regular meeting of the New Brighton Council was held last night; present—Councillors Winny (in the chair), MTntyre, Rowe, Thomson, Owles, Glanville and Marshall. Correspondence was read: —From Mr J. L. Patrick, pointing out the bad state of the channelling in part of Sea View Road. From the South Waimakariri River Board, relating to the rate about to be struck. From the Hospital Board, notifying the Council’s proportion due to the Board, and from the Charitable Aid Board on the same matter. The Town Clerk reported' a credit ■ balance at the bank of £63 15s, The cost of forming a footpath on the River Road was estimated at £B. It was resolved to authorise the completion of the work. Councillor Marshall gave notice to move at the next meeting that High and Wilson Streets should be renamed.' Councillor MTntyre moved that the Works Committee be requested to report on the question of constructing concrete or asphalt channelling in the borough. This was seconded by Councillor Owles and carried. It was resolved that notice should be given by advertisement that proceedings would be taken for recovery of all rates unpaid on May 17. The meeting then terminated.
