PARISH MEETINGS.

ST JOHN’S, LATIMER SQUARE. The annual meeting of the parishioners and congregation was held last night in the schoolroom. There was a large attendance.; The Rev H. C. M. Watson occupied the chair, and congratulated the meeting on the work of the year which was just closed. I The accounts for the current year showed a balance in favour of income over expenditure of £27, and £2l of good cash assets were available. The report showed that the total receipts were £642 16s 2d, which had been expended in the payment of all accounts outstanding, leaving assets to the value of £56 10s against an overdraft of £lO5. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following vestry was elected: | —Messrs Kincaid (vicar’s churchwarden) and H. Marshall (parishioners’ churchwarden), Staniland, Gerard, Ballinger,- White, Holmes, Foster, Rang, Wills, Buttenvorth and C. Hobbg. The customary votes’) bi thanks were passed. The following commit-: tee of ladies (With power to'add to their number) was, elected to co-operate with tfe vestry during the current, year : —Mesdames Holmes, Dean, Ballinger, Gerard, Watson, and tine Misses Foster, Turton and Atkinson.; During the evening the following ladies and- 1 gentlemen contributed musical items;—Missee Marr, Denham and Allwright, and, Messrs Mason and Faulkner.

ST PAUL’S, PAPANUI,

The annual meeting of parishioners wail field last evening in the schoolroom. The vicar, the Rev H. T. Pure has, was in the chair. There was a very good attendance.' Ihe balance-sheet of St Paul’s Church showed that the receipts for the year were £450 14s 9d, and the expenditure £450 6s lOd, leaving a credit balance of 7s lid. The statement of. assets and liabilities showed the latter as £244, and the former as £l6 7s lid, leaving a debit balance of £227 12s Id. The Sunday school receipts had been £ls 12s and expenditure £l2 14s sd, leaving in hand a balance of £2 18s On the Sunday school building the receipts were £l7 7s Id,’ and the expenditure £l7 6s lid, leaving a‘ credit balance of 2d, whilst the liabilities on the building are £lB5 Is 6d, against assets of £56 Is 2d, leaving a debit balance of £129 0s 4d. •• - ... ,

The balance-sheet of St James’s Church,’ Harewood .Road, showed the receipts . and expenditure .as £54 Os. 4d each, •whilst bn the cemetery account the receipts' were -£5 19s 7d, and the expenditure £3 2s sd, leaving a credit balance of £2 17s 2d, and the Sunday school had receipts £lO 2s lOd, and expend!-! ture £9 9s Bd, leaving in hand 13s 2d. Tlie balance-sheet of St John’s Church, Belfast, showed the receipts to be : £76 Is 6d, : and the expenditure the same. The building! fund was £BO 14s 4d, and subscriptions had been received amounting to £37 lOs towards repairs to the church. The Sunday school statement showed the receipts and expend!-, ture as £3 5s 8d each. The balance-sheet of St Mark’s Church,' Marshlands, showed the receipts and ex- 1 penditure to be £24 13s Id. The Sunday school accounts showed the receipts as £l6 17s Bd, and the expenditure -as £ll 17s-9d,' leaving in hand £4 19s lid. These accounts were all adopted, unanimously by the parishioners. During the evening the Vicar made feeling references to the losses the parish hadreceived during the year, particularly through the deaths of Mr M. S. Campbell and Mrs Norman.

The following officers were elected:—Minister’s churchwarden, Mr J. F. Hartland •: parishioners’ churchwarden, Mr C. Edkins.i Vestry: Papanui, Messrs W. C. Pendall, W. P. Watson, C. G. Matson, W. E. Mills, G. Harper and Amos; Harewood Road,; Messrs C. Stanley and J. Burrows; Belfast, Mr W. Nieholls; Marshlands, Mr T. Morion. Auditor, Mr C. Scott. . It was decided that it-should be an instruction to the new vestry to raise'a loan, if possible, to re-roof the church with iron and to carry out the work.

Votes of thanks were passed to all who had worked for the church during the past twelve months. On the motion of Mr G. Harper, d special vote of thanks was carried by acclamation to Mr G. Dunnage, who has, worked hard for the parish during past years and is now leaving the district. . . i " , ,

ST SAVIOUR’S, LYTTELTON WEST,

The annual meeting of parishioners waa held on Monday evening. In opening the meeting the Vicar regretted that so;few were present; but at the same time he wished to thank those who had attended, especially-; the ladies, .who, notwithstanding the action; of the General Synod, had ventured' to attend the meeting. The clergyman’s re-; port stated that the congregations had re-) mained about the same as the previous year,; while the offertories had slightly increased.! There had been 6 marriages, 18 burials and 1 55 baptisms, while the number of communicants had increased. : The Parish Churchwarden submitted the balance-sheet, which was considered emi-; nently. satisfactory, as, although the only : source of income had been offertories, yet the debit balance at the bank had been re-: duced by £lB, leaving only about £4O outstanding. Votes of thanks were passed to the-chnrch officers, to the choirmaster and, choir, to the auditor (Mr W, Shanaghan), to the Sunday school teachers and superintendent (Mrs Chambers), to those’who assisted the Vicar in giving religious instruction in the dayschool, and to those who decorated the church.

The following vestry was elected : —Mr G. C. Smith, vicar’s churchwarden; Mr W. J. Schollar, parish churchwarden; vestrymen, Messrs S. Derbridgte, J. W. M"Gregof, W. C. Taylor, J. W. Wilcocks and W. Whitby. A resolution was passed declaring that women should be entitled to vote at parish, meetings, and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Chairman. '
